Who We Are

Marcus Management Consultants, LLC was established in 2005 to address an occasional need for consulting services with several clients, including the Veterans Health Administration. Over time, those consulting services have evolved into a full-service organizational development and human resources consulting firm providing a number of services, including workplace civility assessment and training, employee engagement surveys, Lean and Six Sigma improvement processes, leadership development, performance management, and employee selection services.

To put it simply, our goal at Marcus Management Consultants is to partner with organizations to achieve excellence. Debbie Curl-Nagy, MSW, CSSMBB

 Majority Owner & Managing Partner

Debbie Curl-Nagy has over 15 years of experience developing and providing training, consultation, and technical assistance in continuous improvement, evaluation, critical thinking and effective decision making to a variety of audiences.

She is also an experienced facilitator, enabling organizations and teams to achieve desired outcomes through effective planning, facilitation and group decision making. Debbie has a wealth of experience from her work in health care, education, public and non-profit organizations.

She has provided Lean and Six Sigma training, coaching, and project facilitation to health care organizations across the country. She was previously employed as Director of Collaboration and Continuous Improvement for a national nonprofit organization providing consultation and technical assistance to community partnerships focused on improving urban education.

Debbie has worked in government as a state performance auditor and project manager to promote efficiency and effectiveness of public programs; has run programs and taught bachelor’s and master’s level courses in Social Work has worked in the non-profit sector providing crisis intervention and counseling services to children and families.

Mark S. Nagy, Ph.D.

 Founder & Senior Consultant

For nearly 20 years, Mark has consulted for a diverse set of organizations, ranging from a non-profit local women’s shelter consisting of 10 employees to a federal agency that employed (at the time) more than 240,000 employees. Mark has also consulted on a variety of organizational projects, such as developing and analyzing employee assessments, conducting training needs assessments, providing statistical consultation, implementing leadership development programs, and creating customized employee engagement surveys. His latest work involves developing a valid measure of civility and demonstrating the impact civility has on both employees and employers in the workplace.

Mark strongly believes in developing customized solutions for organizations based on their unique needs. From his experiences, Mark has learned that many organizations have similar problems, but the solutions to those problems are different. That is why he believes all organizational solutions must be custom-designed for each organization.”

Mark received his master’s and doctoral degrees specializing in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from Louisiana State University. In addition to his consulting, he currently is the Director of the Industrial-Organizational Psychology Master of Arts graduate program at Xavier University. Mark has over 45 national conference presentations and 18 published articles in several journals, including The Industrial-Organizational Psychologist, the Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology, The Psychologist-Manager Journal, and Applied H.R.M. Research.

 

 

Consulting Team

Deanna Suskovich

A certified Master Black Belt in Six Sigma and Lean Management, Deanna has worked with Fortune 50 organizations, government agencies, hospitals, labs, animal science, universities, architecture, engineering, and construction firms, as well as a variety of service organizations, to design and build continuous improvement programs; select, educate, and build clients’ change-resource capacity; and implement process improvement projects.

Deanna specializes in leading healthcare Lean Six Sigma deployments, with recent experience in leading and coaching projects for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) as a member of their internal consulting team, the Veterans Engineering Resource Center (VERC). She has invested almost a decade in support for that deployment, coaching executives in the MyVA transformation, leading champion workshops for leaders, training black belts, and facilitating rapid process improvement (RPI) efforts. She has also supported Lean Six Sigma deployments in other healthcare systems, including Memorial Hospital (Jasper, IN), Tipton Memorial Hospital (Tipton, IN), DuPont Hospital (Fort Wayne, IN), Indianapolis Coalition for Patient Safety, Sisters of St. Francis Health Care System, and the AHRQ – MRSA North America Collaboration.

Through the use of Lean, Six Sigma, and Design for Six Sigma methodologies, Deanna has educated and led on-site client teams on more than 140 Lean Six Sigma improvement and Design for Six Sigma projects which combined have an 83% success rate of sustaining improvements for longer than 6 months following the pilot implementation.

Deanna has a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt and a BA degree in Marketing from Purdue University.

Amy Wetter

Much to her parents’ dismay, Amy became afflicted with wanderlust at a young age. When it was time for college, they relented from their vigilance and allowed her to go deep into the recondite Amish territories to learn the exotic customs of the liberal arts 30 minutes down the road (45, if you get stuck behind farm equipment).

After earning a BA in Psychology at The College of Wooster in Ohio, she again crossed vast expanses into the unknown world of Cincinnati. There, she delved into the indigenous customs of eating copious amounts of Graeter’s ice cream and what the natives call chili. With the ultimate goal to improve organizational culture and output, and ultimately the life of the working person, she earned an MA in Industrial/Organizational Psychology at Xavier University. Soon she set out on her next adventure, daring to go farther than Amy’s parents had ever dreamt to go… on to the far-off land of coffee, airplanes and other notable stuff.

Since occupying the greater Seattle area, Amy has gained a wealth of skills and experience within fast-paced global companies, involving people analytics, action planning, HR tools and materials, and organizational development initiatives. She has overseen a variety of assessments and survey cycles, including ad hoc projects and large ongoing programs. She is accustomed to handling confidential data and concerns over cultural relativism and anonymity, including programs in which results tie into employee incentive and rewards. Amy has utilized employee data to improve alignment with organizational strategies, productivity and leadership pipelines. She has managed both ambiguous and complex projects and is able to effectively adapt communications for a variety of different stakeholders. Amy’s personable and consultative approach has proven to be highly successful for developing relationships and bridging the gap between metrics and business outcomes.

Amy still enjoys exploring new places but has happily settled with her husband and two daughters. Having mostly assimilated into the Seattle culture, she boasts an impressive collection of Gortex and high-performance wool.
